Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to emphasize the importance of your student being present and engaged at school for the entire school day whenever possible.
When students are checked out early, they miss valuable classroom instruction, assignments, discussions, and opportunities to ask questions and receive support from their teachers. Even missing one or two class periods can make it difficult for students to keep up with their coursework and can have a direct impact on their grades and academic progress.
Please also be aware that students are counted absent for each class period they miss, including class periods missed due to an early checkout. These missed instructional minutes add up over time.
We understand that appointments, emergencies, and other circumstances sometimes make an early checkout necessary. However, when possible, we strongly encourage families to schedule appointments and other activities outside of school hours so students can remain at school for the full instructional day.
Every class period matters, and every minute of instruction counts. Helping your student attend school for the full day is one of the simplest ways you can support their academic success.

Congratulations to our Heritage Lady Mountaineers soccer team for another huge win, this time over Lenoir City Middle School.
The Lady Mountaineers are now 4-0 and won impressively 6-2
The team was led by:
Ariel Catarino 4 goals
Holly Heissenberg 2 goal
The JV also defeated Lenoir City 2-0
The JV team was lead by:
Peyton Willis and Morgan Carrizales who both scored goals.
Great job ladies!

Girls Basketball season is fast approaching!
If you are interested in trying out for the girls' basketball team this year, swing by the office or Coach Vananda's room for a sports packet.
There will be a couple of open gyms at the beginning of September to help you fine-tune your skills before tryouts towards the end of September.
All information regarding open gyms and tryouts will bein the packet.

Heritage High School is hosting their first home football game this evening. If you plan to attend please review the attached information regarding procedures during the construction of the HHS track around the football field. Also, please remember that children under the age of 14 should be attending the game with an adult. Thank you and happy Friday!!
On August 20, 2026, at approximately 2:38 PM, Heritage High and Middle Schools were placed on a temporary lockdown as a safety precaution following reports of a suspicious person on campus grounds.
Local law enforcement responded immediately to evaluate the situation and secure the campus perimeter. Upon investigation, officers determined that the individual reported was an official referee arriving for a scheduled soccer game who had inadvertently parked in an unauthorized area.
Once law enforcement confirmed there was no threat to the school, the lockdown was officially lifted at approximately 2:54 PM. Students were safely directed back to their classes and normal daily activities resumed.

The soft lockdown has been lifted at this time and students have returned to their normal schedule.
HMS is in a soft lockdown due to a suspicious person in the area. BCSO is on campus investigating.
All students are safe and in their classrooms. We will update when we are clear.
